Today, (Nov. 18, 2009) I returned from a Guadeloupe treasure hunting adventure. Taking the 8 day treasure hunting adventure with me, this time, were Streeter Electronics, Minelab Excalibur metal detector customers & seasoned treasure hunters; Tom Blondell of Rochester, MN, (found 15 gold items), Rich LaMothe of Fort Myers, FL (32 found gold items) , Chris Valerio of Squim, WA (29 found gold items) , Bryan Llewellyn of Wales, UK, (4 found gold items) Don Foster of Claremont, NH (14 found gold finds), Jim Corbett of Princeton, NJ. found 10 gold items & the 4 Reale) and Streeter found 21 gold finds).  Everyone used a Minelab Excalibur underwater detector. However for a little while Jim Corbett (who was a Fisher person, used a Fisher CZ-21 and was not happy with it and switched back to the Excalibur.

I do not have a great memory & I think the total gold finds was around 125, (of this amount 95% was 18K gold) silver finds were over 200, and we also found over $500 in euros.

The catch of the trip was a early 1700s 4 real and one morning when detecting in the sea, I found a brand new fishing pole & reel in 2 feet of water. The line was out, so I started reeling it in. Chris & Don, saw me fishing & and came over to investigate. I thought the line was snagged on something and headed to the area where line was snagged. I then discovered the line was moving and I reeled in a 2 foot fish. Don & Chris had to hold the fish with 2 hands to remove the hook.We had a camera in the car & should of taken pictures.  I gave the fish to an older French couple who were sunbathing nearby. Because Rich had a bag big enough to hold the pole, I gave it to him and I took the fishing reel home.  I will post pictures of the trip (gold & silver finds, the participants & the fishing reel, soon.
