Don Foster's 6th trip to Guadeloupe My buddy George Streeter planned a perfect & a great adventure for 7 friends & customers to Guadeloupe (a French Island). Each morning, we were up early & in the sea with our detectors by 7:am. My good buddy Chris Valerio from Washington state did the driving & we never got lost and he never scared us once. This time I went with 6 friends, George Streeter from NH, and Chris Valerio from WA, Jim Corbett from NJ, Rich LaMothe (the gold champ) from FL, Tom Blondell from MN, & Bryan Llewellyn from WALES, U.K. We mostly used underwater Minelab Excalibur metal detectors and we detected from the shore line out to shoulder deep water and we all found 18K gold. The last time in Guadeloupe we did not do well and we reported the finds were drying up. However this time, all 7 of of us were experienced hunters and skill paid off with more finds. Because gold is so expensive now, most finds were smaller. We found 125 18k GOLD jewelry items, 100s of SILVER jewelry items, many pieces of Stainless Steel jewelry items (some with 18k gold inserts) and Jim Corbett found a 1700s 4 Reale in the sea,.
One morning we were detecting in the sea and George found in 2 feet of water, a brand new fishing pole & reel. When he reeled the line in, there was a 2 foot fish on the hook. It took two hands to hold the fish, while I removed the hook. We gave the fish to a French couple who were sunbathing on the beach. Click for more Guadeloupe Trip Photos
