Reijgersdaal Shipwreck Coins  Popular
The Reijgersdaal or Reygersdahl (pronounced REE - jerz - doll), a Dutch East India Company merchant ship, was lost on October 26th, 1747 after striking a reef while trying to hold anchor in heavy seas off the west coast of South Africa. The vessel, sailing out of Amsterdam, carried over 30,000 Spanish colonial coins.
