Modern Irish Coinage  Popular
The new coins were made at the Royal Mint in England in 1928. The half crown, florin and schilling were made of .750 silver/.25 copper. This alloy produced a whiter metal that discolored less that its English counterpart which was made of a .50/.50 combination.

Foreigners thought many times they got Monopoly®-money when they bought Dutch Guilders, and since 2002 that's indeed what they get. With the introduction of the Euro as the single currency for the European Union, the Dutch Guilder (and the coins and banknotes) became history.
